Genre: Nonfiction Concept Book Awards: None Audience: Grades 1-3 A. The topic of this book is Christmas and how different places around the world all celebrate Christmas differently by having their own traditions. B. It is presented by talking about things children would be interested in when it comes to Christmas. For example, when each country is represented they talk about what kind of food they eat, how they decorate, etc. It also has pictures of children from each country. A fun aspect of this book is it says how each country says "Merry Christmas", which is fun for kids because they can try to say "Merry Christmas" in other languages. C. Fun, bright colors with a lot of pictures from the country on each page. When each country is introduced, there is a map of the world pointing exactly where the country is. Contains both illustrated and actual pictures to represent the country. Titles and subtitles on each page are bolded and also in another color. Regular text all looks the same on every page. D. This book should be used at Christmas time (obviously) right before the students go on Christmas break. This book, however, contains a lot of scripture and on each page has a section for what we should pray for in that country. Because of this, this book would only be able to be used in a private school setting, at church during Sunday school, or at home read by parents.

The concept was good but the characters were rather one dimensional and simple. The family hears their Rabbi say to give thought to their Hanukkah gifts. Each draws a name and gives them a gift they, themselves, want. The Rabbi comes over and straightens everything out- explaining what he meant.
