the east indies government wasn't only successful to create the trade monopoly, but also the modern law constitution in indonesia. they created the law concepts, started from a set of trade rules that absorbed to the very principle of the mind and mentality of indonesian people understanding of law in general. so, the fact is that the concepts of law in indonesia got its own fundamental spirit from europe, or the colonial power, rather than indonesia herself. the law was created in the basis of european tendency to monopolize the trade and some of their mythical understanding of the orient. this book is really really good for exploring the very fundamental origin of law in indonesia. so this book is really appropriate to be translated into indonesian language.

Imagine, if you will, the marvelous books by Preston and Child that feature Pendergast (and/or Diogenes) but abridged and without the clever literary references and sprinkling of pedantic trivia that so enhances the stories in those books. There you have Leonardo's Law. This, very typical, locked room murder mystery hinges on the solution of another exceptional Renaissance Man detective. It is a fast read and I enjoyed it. Yet, this character will never replace Pendergast in my mind. I really missed the attention to detail found in the Preston and Child books (probably the result of having a book editor as co-author) and wished that the mystery had been a bit more complex. It was solid "train" reading, but not such that I expect to seek out any more Leonardo books. On the other hand, if I were to see some at a used bookstore or library sale, I might still grab them with the train in mind.
