This book is a rare attempt to give those of us with brain injuries, as well as therapists, a plain English outline of the functional and physiological sequelae of brain injuries to our diagnosed deficits. It is also a call to action for the various professional areas involved to get their act together and get together to provide a unified language etc. We are made worse by the jargon and confused, inefficient communication, much fo which doesnt get down to the people at the cliff face. These people have taken some responsibility for getting something started. 1st produced in 2001, did anyone listen?!!!

King's approach is academic, but not at all inaccessible. For a topic like this, where she's taking on some sacred cows, it's important that she support her arguments with evidence, which she does very convincingly, not polemically. To me, this was not at all an argument against participation in philanthropy or breast cancer activism. Rather, she suggests that we become mindful of how our action is being channeled in ways that benefit corporations and pose little threat to government to address social inequities and environmental degradation.
