Review # 1 was written on 2017-01-24 00:00:00 Mike Camdon The title was interesting and some of the chapters pull you in. but the writing itself is very piecemeal, the author skips around throughout her lifetime telling stories and then goes back again to her childhood. Towards the end of the book she skips from being a teenager in the south to being a forty something woman looking for a job. Honestly, it was a little confusing. Also, she skips from being somewhat sweet to being incredibly cynical. She now looking back at her marriage (she's divorced) realizes it was a mistake all along (hindsight is 20/20). Personally, if I were her kid I wouldn't want my mom writing like that about my dad and his new bride. Overall not a great book. I had to push myself to finish it. The cover was a lot more interesting than the content itself. |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-01-22 00:00:00 Edward Weisbein Wonderful Memoir tells of Gingher's teen years in Greensboro NC during the 1960's. As a child my family visited realtives that lived there. A very plesant trip down memory lane! |
