(на бълг. е преведена като Да се храниш като крал: История на кралските рецепти,изд. Астерим, цена 14 лв.) there are 2 not too good things about this book. the first is that it is too short (192 pgs). it is a marvellous story about the english cuisine during the centuries beginning with William the Conquerer and till Eduard VII. the book includes funny and interesting details that the serious historic books usually miss. and of course there are these great recipes and you can cook by yourself some of the favourite dishes of henry VIII, elizabeth I or victoria. другото неприятно нещо е самият български превод, който е пълен с груби технически грешки. на две-три места дори са сменени цели редове. въпреки това за мен книгата остава едно доста любопитно и полезно четиво. тепърва ще изпробвам рецептите в нея:)

Royal Recipes by Michèle Brown, is a fun little culinary history of England, giving a brief chapter on the tastes in food, and one recipe, for each monarch from William the Conquerer through Edward VII. It's not comprehensive, of course, but it's full of amusing anecdotes, and the recipes are interesting. If I have any quibble, it's that the original recipes are not included, so we can't compare them to Ms. Brown's adaptations. I like to see original recipes, even if it's "Take a Conyng fle him" level incomprehensibility. Still, it's rare to find so broad a time scale in one cookbook. It's a fun sampler.
