I rather enjoyed this book. A fairly academic, critical review of not just branding but how we think about branding. Covering a wide range of ideas this is a thought provoking read. The author is widely read quoting from not only branding references but also a lot of philosophy, art and other sources. It's not always a comforting read, but that's not a bad thing. It is mostly highly engaging and interesting. If you are looking for a How to book on branding or tools and techniques this won't be for you. But if you want a broad critical review and like the deeper end of analysis this could be. A couple of minor criticisms. Sometimes odd sections of chapters seem to be included without being related too well to the surrounding sections. Occasionally the excellent references and widely sourced quotes verge on intellectual pretentiousness. But these are quibbles.

This is part of my curriculum for my branding class and it gives me horrible flashbacks from last week when I had my exam two days after the first lecture :/ Kronberger writes in quite a grandiose way with a lot of references from fine art and even one direction (not saying that their music is not fine art ;) )
