Just finished Wolfhart Pannenberg's "Human Nature, Election, and History". It's an interesting critique on the classical, and "abstract" doctrine of election and a reorientation of this doctrine beyond sectarian exclusivism (i.e. the oft ignored temptation of a concept of the chosenness of a particular people or nation) and the individualism of modernism. Pannenberg reorients the doctrine of election within a theology of history that connects it, intimately and vitally, to the reconciliation of man in Christ and the mission of this man to carry on the ministry of reconciliation in hisotry, as the foundation for the structure of society that both aligns with the divine will of the God of Israel and steers away from the nihilistic meaninglessness of non-religious society. While I have many questions and am still working to understand he structure and content of this book, I highly recommend it. If anyone has read this and is willing to discuss further, let me know!

This was definitely a textbook, I was hoping for more of a popular non-fiction type book, but it was definitely a textbook. Regardless, I read it cover to cover and really learned a lot. It was a high level overview of the entire span of Mexican history. It never got into super boring details since it was all high level. Definitely worth reading if you want the full overview of all of Mexican history and politics.
