Cleo McCarthy is having a case of writer's block so her best friend Grace insists that the author escape to Grace's cabin in New Hampshire to immerse herself in penning her next novel. Cleo's husband Sean readily agrees to the arrangement (much to her surprise) including caring for their two children aged ten and eight. Everything goes as planned until Sean shows up unexpectedly and drops Lily and Tim off at the cabin effectively putting a halt to the progress Cleo was making on her book. It soon becomes apparent that Cleo and Sean's marriage is in trouble. Sean had an affair several years ago and after hearing about what is going on at home, Cleo suspects he is once again involved with another woman. Something I liked about this story is that Cleo values being loved and accepted by the big McCarthy family so much that it gives her second thoughts about divorcing Sean(in spite of his cheating) and losing the only real family she has ever known. Good read!

A very sweet and emotional story that takes the reader in the life of a normal family to the rough patches to the scoundrel to friendship to heart break. Many women can probably relate to this story, at least from Cleo, the main character's point of view. Not a cry at a page kind of story, but an evolution of emotions and resolutions of character and always in the end... love. My firs book from this author and I have to tell you that I found some unusual words in her work, one that stayed with me was: Niggardly. I was actually surprised to see this word and although I kind of knew what it meant, I had to look it up to make sure. If you know, kudos! If you don't.... look it up!
