| Review # 1 was written on 2017-03-06 00:00:00 Daniel Hudnor The Essential Davidson is a collection of essays by philosopher of language/mind Donald Davidson, encompassing the most significant work of his career. I gave this book a weak four stars because there were several essays that I did really like, but there were other essays that I got little out of. The chapters I got a lot out of are: Chapter 3: How is Weakness of the Will Possible? Chapter 5: Mental Events Chapter 7: Paradoxes of Rationality Chapter 12: What Metaphors Mean Chapter 13: A Coherence Theory of Truth and Knowledge Chapter 14: First Person Authority Chapter 15: A Nice Derangement of Epitaphs |
