Review # 2 was written on 2018-12-18 00:00:00 Elliott Garnes Although this mostly is a book of photographs, I have to mention it, because I found Barber's work to be compelling and fascinating. Barber's images of Vietnam, taken with a simple,large-format pinhole camera and then printed on platinum paper, are stunning in their power, and the way in which they are able to evoke memory. Barber was a combat Marine in Vietnam, and as the name of the book suggests, there really are "ghosts in the landscape." They are captured in Barber's images, even though most are devoid of people. The actual prints are more powerful than the reproductions in the book, but still this is an impressive, moving and haunting collection of images.
