Review # 1 was written on 2016-08-04 00:00:00 Daniel tepper Tells of Hopatcong's early history from when it was just a resort and vacation location. Every page is filled with pictures of the times and places along with a description which includes people's names, dates, popular activities, location description and/or what if anything resides there currently (as of 1998 when the book was written). It tells the story of how Hopatcong transformed from a lively vacation spot for New Yorkers and celebrities to the year round living residence it currently is. Very interesting and fun to look back and see what some of the building originally looked like and what they were used for.

Review # 2 was written on 2014-08-23 00:00:00 Anemos Soul Great way to get a taste of Troy's history by viewing the pictures collected in this book and by reading the captions for each one. Ritter, a journalist and I am sure, a history buff, lays out the pictures in a way that could easily be a current walking tour of the city. The book was published almost 20 years ago and in it Ritter predicted Troy would rise again...and it has. Downtown has been revitalized with cute shops and unique eateries. Plenty of entertaining choices, too. In 2015, Ritter wrote a piece in the Times Union about turning forgotten tunnels and forgotten spaces under bridges into places of use. I'd like to see this happen.
