Review # 1 was written on 2019-12-15 00:00:00 John Nash The people pictured in this historical album seemed to speak to me with their eyes. I wish I could talk to them today to find out about all the stories they lived. Many seemed serious, but a few had laughing or smiling smirks. I'd love to have found out more about their personal histories. It seems it took a lot of determination to settle here in the High Country (3000 ft. elevation). Scenes of church picnics, school children, industry, baptisms, birthday parties, trains, and mountain musicians ... One early 19th century mail carrier and news reporter, both women, was impressive. I was most touched by a darling toddler named Nina who was said to have accidentally drowned by falling into a vat of molasses. |
