Review # 1 was written on 2013-03-04 00:00:00 Jennifer Swingle A volumn in the Images of America Series. Nice historic pictures of downtown Rapid City, circa 1886-1950. Specialized but nice.

Review # 2 was written on 2007-07-21 00:00:00 Carl Dupont Living near Paradise CA... The parallels between the Peshtigo Fire in 1871 and the Camp Fire in & around Paradise in 2018 are hard to miss. The word-images of evacuees caught by fire are evocative, though I'm grateful to be able to say that in 2018 more of us escaped than otherwise. If the Peshtigo paradigm truly was the start of modern firefighting in the wildland/town interface, I'm inspired to read more about it.
