If you live or have ever lived in Lynn Haven, this book will make you proud. On my street, Georgia Ave., we boast the only dedicated union soldier monument south of the Mason Dixie. A previous union encampment, and later retirement area for union soldiers, Lynn Haven is a well of rich progressive history. Lynn Haven was nicknamed the "Magic City." That's exactly what Lynn Haven supplied to its pioneering residents, respite from the cold winter days of the north. In later years, the haven city grew to incorporate more than just retirees, but growing families. It has since become a prominent residential area in Bay County. This book is filled with short descriptions and pictures that bring this sleepy town's history to life. Get it! "Those were trying days, attended with many discouraging instances. Had we been asked why we stayed, we could have told. We stayed because of the blood of our ancestors'the pioneer and the patriot'was flowing in our veins and hope is the last thing to die in the human heart." -Mollie Truesdell | of Lynn Haven, FL

Separated by season, this book documents the lives and culture of the alpine people with generous pages of photos and their brief, poetic, informative descriptions. It's wonderful for obtaining a general impression and very basic understanding of life in the Himalayas. "Namgyal, the wizard of Brassi. He wears a Dalai Lama pendant as a form of protection, surrounded by fake turquoise, coral, and zee stones, whose patterns are said to have been created thousands of years ago by lightning bugs in mud. Real zee stones can cost as much as three thousand dollars and are the most precious heirloom a family can possess. The stones protect against 'the dragon's roar''thunder and lightning'which may cause one to be swallowed up by the earth."
