So...about Elizabeth George. This is the third book I've read by her in a year. I do so, because I find her very encouraging and she always has great tips on how to let God's Word influence your life more and manage your time. But there are some things she says, I just can't agree on and I think they are even dangerous. In my opinion, her focus is too much on the to do rather than on the rest in what is true. Sure, George preaches the love of God and that it is the reason why we should be obedient and not the other way around, but she also writes that we should be always doing something as women, always be active, always try to do one more thing. That is not a healthy way of living. And there have been many Christians who fell into burnout because of such teachings. There is a time to rest and even a need to rest. There is freedom to just sit down and enjoy a good book. There is goodness in enjoying something for yourself as a gift from God. I've been a slave to the opinion that I can enjoy nothing if it is not to the benefit of others much too long and it cost me so much joy. Of course we shouldn't run around only pleasing ourselves, but it is important to rest and enjoy what God has given you, may it be a good book, a hobby or relationships, etc... She also says that depression is something we can simply decide against and that is simply an uniformed, hazardous position on the matter. From my own experience I know that there are times in your life, you can't decide against depression. Sure if you just feel a little down from time to time, there are things you can do about it, - but depression is a whole different topic and we have to be very careful as christians not to give others superficial and shortsighted advice on something so complex and hard to go through if we haven't experienced it ourselves. All in all I enjoyed the book, it talks a lot about how God showed up for people in the Bible and helped them overcome difficulties and that we can trust him. But it didn't touch me deeply and because of the mentioned problems I had with parts of it, I will give George a rest for now.

Fabulous, from beginning to end. Such amazing truths and anchors in this book for women desiring to live a godly life. I love all of Elizabeth George, and this book was no different than the others I have read as far as truth and encouragement are considered! I am always challenged to live a life pleasing and honoring to God when reading her books, and she encourages readers in practical ways! And always with Scripture to back up her statements. Phenomenal :)
