Review # 1 was written on 2012-02-09 00:00:00 Daniel Kenny My fiancé's grandmother gave me this book for Christmas. I really appreciated the gesture and the book. I read it during a stressful part of the school semester. It took me roughly an hour an a half to read. While it was not as challenging as many allegories, its sheer simplicity is appealing. While I probably will never call it a "must read" I will say that it is an excellent reminder of Christ's love for the church. In particular it discusses the individual Christian heart. This little book, though brief, was dead on in its analysis of the struggles that the Christian faces in his or her relationship with Jesus. I particularly enjoyed the format of the relationship it displayed: that of letters from the lover to beloved. This accurately reflects the manner in which the Bible provides the history, poems, wisdom, gospels, directions, and even love letters that God has written to his people.

Review # 2 was written on 2019-10-27 00:00:00 Jill Edward When I was about 14 years old, I read this book and thought that it was purely based on longing romance. Reading it 10 years later, I finally understand that this is an allegory on God's everlasting love in the presence of sin. On a personal note, I felt what Christianna was going through. Being in a long distance relationship has its setbacks such as non-physical contact, of which can lead one to think and activate on infidelity. No amount of lustful flesh can ever taste as sweet as when you are with the one you love. This beautiful story reminded me that. I'm glad to have picked it up after so many years.
