Review # 1 was written on 2013-12-02 00:00:00 Thomas Ferguson This is a short picture book that introduces the basic vocabulary for dogs and puppies. It simply shows pictures and describes how dogs make puppies, what puppies are like, and how they grow overtime. It is a great book to introduce the topic and teach the children the basics of what a puppy is and how they grow into dogs. It includes a word list at the end of the book with words such as "chew, litter, milk, and play" (Tagliaferro, 2004, p. 24). I could use these words for a spelling test and teach the children what each word means. I chose my anchor texts by asking myself questions like: "How do I groom a puppy?" "What does a puppy eat?" "How do puppies behave?" "How can children relate to puppies?" Tagliaferro, L. (2004). Dogs and Their Puppies. Mankato, MN: Capstone Press. |
