This novel continues the story of Aloha, a yello Lab guide do trained by Guide Dogs for the Blind. She's now living and working with her new partner, Kimberly Louise, on an island off the coast of Georgia. The team has been together almost a year, and Aloha's puppy raiser, Diego, comes for a summer visit. The book nicely captures the bond and working relationship between a guide dog and the blind person who is partnered with them. At times, the plot felt a little overwrought, as if the author had to put as much excitement and danger in as possible. This probably makes for good fiction, but it sometimes felt like there was too much to be believable. Aside from that minor quibble, though, this book is recommended for anyone who wanted to know how things turned out after meetin Aloha for the first time in "Hello, Goodbye, I Love You".

"Aloha Crossing" is a nice follow-up novel to "Hello, Goodbye, I Love You." Once you meet Aloha in the first book, you want to continue to follow along with the guide dog's life. This story shares the impact Aloha has on the lives of Diego, the boy who trained her, and Kimberly Louise, the blind woman who counts on the dog for independence and companionship. The book also serves as a guide for understanding the challenges blind people face and offers an example of how to overcome some of life's unexpected difficulties.
