Review # 1 was written on 2020-05-09 00:00:00 Jose Hernandez There's some poetry and novels in here, but mostly the (well researched) evolution of intellectual contemplation of contemporary politics and the place of religion in a modernizing society. Surprisingly, "a truer Islam" rather than such proposed modernisation was the answer for some to catching up with the West, in apparent contradiction to the philosophy of the 1979 Revolution. Or not. Food for thought!

Review # 2 was written on 2020-07-17 00:00:00 Jeffrey Lamela مرور نسبتا کوتاهی است بر شکل‌گیری روشنفکری در ایران معاصر، از عصر مشروطه تا انقلاب اسلامی. قیصری در ابتدا بیشتر بر روشنفکران سیاسی، و در انتها بر نویسندگان دست گذاشته است و نسبت آن‌ها را با ناسیونالیسم، غرب، اسلام و میراث فرهنگی ایران بررسی کرده است. جمع‌بندی قیصری این است که روشنفکری ایرانی در عمل به آن‌چه مسؤولیتش را به عهده گرفته بود، چندان توفیقی نداشت
