This is an informational picture book that introduces beginning scientists to forms of energy. This book includes chemical energy, kinetic energy, and solar energy. This book also contains hands on experiments that children can try alongside the guidance of an adult. I really enjoyed this aspect of the book. I think that it gave way to expand on the topics in the book in a real life way. I also think that the illustrations in this book really help to bring the story to life and engage the readers. Another book I might pair this text with is "Energy Island: How One Community Harnessed the Wind and Changed their World." This book could be used to teach students another kind of energy. One quote I liked from this book is "Energy in food lets you jump out of bed in the morning. Energy in a rushing waterfall makes the lamp beside your bedside flicker." I chose this quote because it helps to get a sense as to how this book lends its information to a younger audience.
