Review # 1 was written on 2014-11-11 00:00:00 Gregory Wilson A macro textbook for new generation. A book focus more on modelling and techniques than economic intuition. So this one is not a good macro book for beginners compare with Romer's and others. For example, McCandless doesnt mention anything about investment and consumption which are the two most important part of GDP. While, of course, as the name tells, this book is trying to deal with RBCs. However, this book will be a good complement to Romer and other traditional graduate level Macro textbooks. As it helps you to practice Matlab programming rather than math exercise for graphics are an easier way to understand complex and complicated equations and concepts, at least for me :). |
