I checked this book out just to browse-not for any particular project; however, after seeing the contents, I can see so many ways this book could be useful to anyone involved in military or other geopolitical work (or just to figure out what they're talking about in those military thrillers...) The format is easy to access, the print isn't tiny, and the cross-referencing is fantastic. I really like the source lists that accompany each section which provide even more information about what (and where) the intelligence community talks about.

The history behind the science, the forefathers of criminal investigation, and the practical applications used for over 100 years. This book not only highlights the American system but the Europeans who originated many of the techniques.
