This is an embroidery book for creative people. It is for someone who wants to experiment with threads, stitches, fabrics and techniques in order to create a vision or image that they have in their mind. It is not a book designed for purists who are interested in a specific technique or style. Lesley Turpin-Delport and her daughter Nikki Delport-Wepener have shared lots of lovely embroidered projects in the theme of flora and fauna and all of them use a wide range of threads and stitches. If you want to do one of their projects in the book, enough details and instructions are provided for you to make a faithful representation of the image in the book. However, if you follow their suggestions and examples, and want to learn from their style, at the end of the day, you should end up with something that is uniquely yours.

Absolutely splendid book. Wish it weren't out of print (and used copies running for upwards of $100) because I would love to own it. It tells you how to embroider a CHICKEN, yo!
