"Have you also learned that secret for the river; that there is no such thing as time?" Ageless Body, Timeless Mind: The Quantum Alternative to Growing Old Not for me. I know so many people who adore Deepak Chopra and I will say he writes in such a magnificent vibrant way. This book was to long for me and I just wasn't interested enough to stay with it. I did like some of what I read. I consider myself a spiritual person so these types of books are going to appeal to me. But.. It was way to long and some of it was very complicated. Maybe I just did not "get it" which is fine and I will admit reading it felt like a chore. On the other hand..some parts were fascinating. Had it been condensed maybe I would have appreciated it more. My favorite part was the Heart Transplant patient who started assuming characteristics of the person whose heart he received. Now that's the stuff I like to read about and I will say I have hear d of things like that happening, not just the one cited in this book. Philosophical and Spiritual books interest me but this one was to lengthy.

Some people seem to rave about Deepak Chopra. I'm not sure why perhaps I was spoilt by Andrew Weil's book Healthy Aging. Chopra has much similar to say as Weil and somehow need desperately a good book editor to help him say it. Perhaps the problem is everything has to link to his idea of quantum where he is drawing on quantum physics to bolster his case. "... the mind influences every cell in the body, human aging is fluid and changeable; it can speed up, slow down, stop for a time, and even reverse itself."` There some very reasonable things and somethings seems extraordinarily shaky. "The deepest reality you are aware of is the one from which you draw your power. For someone who is conscious only of the material world, power is limited to material forces..." OK I find this very reasonable both intellectually, psychologically and even spiritually. In contrast"unbounded intelligence, freedom, and power are inherent in the unified field that Einstein and the ancient sages shared in their vision. Immortality dawns when you realize that you deserve your place in the eternal flow." This seems more anthropocentric and to be honest an unsuccessful attempt to fuse science and spirituality which is like trying to join a solid to a liquid or drink soup with a fork. Yes the way we think and our emotional lives have an effect of our physical bodies. Yes faith and belief has an effect on us both physically and emotionally. Both Weil and Chopra have the same premis but one is far more convincing and easier to read.
