What a read, if the series "Friends" was a book this would be it. The central character is Livia an Interior Decorator struggling to make ends meet, her friends are helping her to get over a past relationship , most of the time meeting and eating at her flat! The book explores her friendships with each of the colourful characters and whizzes along at a great pace ( almost too fast for me at the start) , there were some laugh out loud moments and some cringeworthy moments too ( rubber cat suits spring to mind), however this writer really knows her stuff and blew me away with a scene in Greece ( cannot tell you anymore without spoiling the read), her fast pace slows right down to fit the lifestyle of the friends and you can tell what is coming from the descriptive way she writes this scenario. Tissues were needed for both laughing and crying. I loved the title which is explained in the book , she is sitting observing her friends and said if they were a white sauce they would be capers in it! I read and loved Stargazy Pie and this is no exception...the woman is a genius!

An awful book with awful characters. I can handle reading about annoying people, I can put up with bad writing, what makes this awful though is that there are no consequences to any of the events. There is death, Class A drug taking, prostitution, theft and a bomb. Yes, a literal bomb goes off in a bar and, within a few pages, it is never mentioned again. A man owns a bar, a bomb goes off half way through the book and no-one even says "Hey, what happened about that bomb?" Instead, the annoying characters move from ridiculous scenario to ridiculous scenario with no linking plot, none of the characters learning anything and the various 'escapades' are just shrugged off with a "What are we like?". I did not like this book.
