David Tick is an old acquaintance of mine from back in the early to mid 70s. He was playing keyboards in a great band that my high school friend did front-of-the-house sound for. I was playing in a different band at time. When his band broke up in 1976 I lost touch with him for 40 years. Last month we connected on LinkedIn and I learned that in recent years he'd been writing. I bought a copy of his short story collection, The End of Superman, read it cover to cover, and recognized, with affection, some of the people he so lovingly wrote about. My hat's off to you, David. Well done. Brought back some fond memories of an exciting time in our lives. I gave up the road and the band in 1982, finally graduated from college in '86, and have been living the straight job life, reluctantly, ever the since. Approaching retirement at age 70, I'm casting my eyes towards getting back to my music in my spare time. It's going to take some wood shedding but I think I'm up to it. I always loved the road and the life. It made me feel whole. The outside matched the inside. Do you recognize that? Peace.
