Review # 1 was written on 2015-07-19 00:00:00 James Tubb Well, this was a fun little decorating book. LOVED all the 1950's retro photos & advice. Of course, a lot of that advice (like how to effectively use color, types of window treatments, etc.) is basically timeless and still useful today. I also liked seeing little snippets from decorating books from the 1960's - early 2000's. The last part of the book is all about current stuff and examples of inspirational homes. I can't say I agree with all of the tips or like all of the examples, but most of this stuff is pretty solid advice. The very last chapter, Workshops, was pretty helpful. I liked seeing what the inside of a sofa is like and the fabric/fibers section was super detailed (although we won't be reupholstering anything soon, so it was really just a curiosity for me). The Decorating Taste Taste quiz was fun, too! |
