Pg 10: Remodeling requires twice the amount of management time and is on time only 1/2 the time. Pg 14: Tips lists 10 thing that conflict with building/remodeling. One of these things would be Home Schooling, another would be working full time. Who then can build? A man before he gets married? Or maybe a gap in the birth order. It also demands having a friend/builder. Pg 29: Stock plans would be a cheaper way to go than an architect. Some cities require an architect. That's something that should be over turned. Pg 30: House kits are still available. Pg 32: There are different laws in different states. Some don't require licensing. What does Texas require? Pg 46: Magazine "Communities" 600 communities list with Fellowship of Intentional Communities and is based in Rutledge MO. They are organized around ecology, spirituality and political. Pg 74: They seem to be scaring people away form remodeling, even giving a list of 25 things that can be done for under $250. Homeschoolers may be able to move much easier that other since they are not connected to any school. Then again there may be times in the Homeschooler family when they may be able to DIY. Pg 81: The value of a home was 2 1/2 times your income and is now closer to 3 and 3 1/2. Pg 133 He says the mortgage on a home shouldn't be more than 2 1/2 times the gross annual income. Pg 196: A very good wish list for landscaping is given here but is to long to list here. One could rate the list 1 to 5 and would be a big help in planning. Would Ray be able to do this? Pg 197: To little about drainage here. Says to hire a professional which would be a landscape contractor. Pg 234: A house is a place to enjoy, a place of comfort and regeneration and should not be a source of stress. Therefore goals may be to bring it up to sell able condition. Once this level is reached then do a few minor cosmetic changes. A further goal may be to have it "visitor ready" or "tour ready". Pg 258: When it comes to moving "Set aside a box for things you will need the first day". Why not a box for the first week and get rid of everything else. Pg 283: Home automation may not need wires in the future. Pg 326: "Communities" magazine is put out by the Fellowship of Intentional Community, Rt. 1, Box 155-B, Rutledge, MO 63563, (800-995-8342). Also Communities Directory by the same group.

This book is for remodelers. Very minimal info about new construction. Unimpressed.
