We all know Dr Frankenstein and his monster; some would say he was a misunderstood, possibly mad, doctor. Well, now meet Frankenstein's Cat! It transpires that the monster was not Frankenstein's first experiment, his cat was and he was called Nine. Not Nine because cats are reputed to have nine lives, but nine because that is the number of cats that were used to create him. Nine wanted to be friendly so he tried being nice to the cook in the kitchen but that did not work; he tried befriending the village children who were playing hide and seek - they sent Nine to hide and then they themselves disappeared as they did not want anything to do with him. This is a very unique and entertaining book that students will love. It's a great story to teach about friendship and accepting others. The cat is unwanted and this is the story of her trying to get a friend. The book doesn't have a happy ending and the cat ends up being chased around by a zombie dog, but a friend is a friend! This is a cute little book that students would love to read on their own. They would love the illustrations and the zombie animals!
