You will be able to read these out loud to your children or by yourself at the pool, dentist office, or in your favorite cozy chair. You may have to order it from your library or used book store--I got this lovely hardback for $.75. The California Indians flourished until the coming of Europeans, especially the gold rush. Little remains of their culture and lore. These stories gather the scraps from what used to be hundreds of tribes and languages and retells them in a seamless, flowing, accessible way.
