An old man plays the violin outside of a theatre every night, to the delight of the people waiting in the queue. One night the conductor offers him the opportunity to play on the stage. It's a dream of a lifetime, but the violinist says he prefers the street, where he plays the next night in the snow, and dies. Somber themes of love, loss, and dreams.

“The Violin Man” by Colin Thompson Beautiful illustrations and a haunting story of love, grief and commitment. “The next night he played on the pavement. It snowed. When Oscar … closed his eyes and there was Marietta dancing in the shadows, eight years old forever.”
