This is brilliant. Ormerod's drawings are so naturalistic and well-observed. She really captures the nuances of body language of all these different-aged bodies. I love particularly the drawing of the little girl flopped onto her mother's back as Mum leans over the baby on the floor, and the baby's face in the one where he's looking at the fishbowl. And it's a very realistic picture of life with a baby, how a day goes on all these little things. Llewellyn can happily get through the whole book at 21 months, and points out various things. He still relates to the baby, I suspect. Aside from being hugely enjoyable, I think this would be a wonderful 'getting them used to the idea of a small baby'/impending sibling book.

Perfect for sharing with the older siblings of new brothers and sisters, this picture book classic provides 101 suggestions for what to do with a new baby. From exercising his legs to giving him a cuddle or kissing his ear, the suggestions are intended to promote family bonds in loving ways. The illustrations are created in block panels similar to those found in graphic novels. Taken together, all the book's elements will surely result in an "AW!" or two.
