Review # 1 was written on 2018-11-05 00:00:00 Gail Gordon This collection has quite a few older (mid 20th century) stories, but the newer ones are excellent too. This book is from 1987, so new isn't really the word (it's as if I consider it new because I remember 1987, even though I was 10 half that year). Soft Monkey by Harlan Ellison (from 1987) was full of action, death and emotions. Tough by John Lutz was amazing, a perfect story. And the older ones? I adored Swamp Search by Harry Whittington. This has Jim Thompson's This World, Then the Fireworks which I have heard of but never read before. I don't really know what to say about that one. It's vague but maybe it's supposed to be, about a pair of maybe bad maybe incestuous siblings. But it is a great story of course. Jim Thompson. And the Robert Edmond Alter (Swamp Sister!) story A Killer In the Dark is full of gripping suspense about a man in a dark basement with two little girls and a rattlesnake.

Review # 2 was written on 2008-03-18 00:00:00 Michael Orlando What I learned from this book...Always keep an empty bottle and a loaded gun in your desk...maybe it was a loaded bottle and an empty gun...I dunno. Only a fool stares into the barrel of any of the above.
