Review # 1 was written on 2018-03-23 00:00:00 Hen Oji Although over 25 years old, this UNITED METHODIST HYMNAL: PEW EDITION (which comes in seven different colors) is still a go-to for the wide variety of hymns in it. Methodists are very strong in Anglo-American hymnody and this edition is new enough to be sensitive to ecumenical currents as well. Among the roughly 800 hymns in this hymnal are "Holy, Holy, Holy," "O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing (and its Spanish translation, "Mil Voces Para Celebrar"), "In the Bleak Midwinter," "Lift Every Voice and Sing," and "Creator of the Stars of Night." New or used, a copy would grace the piano of any family that loves the hymn-singing experience. One small caveat: All the arrangements in this hymnal are copyrighted, and performance in any non-U Methodist service is prohibited.
