This is an enjoyable collection of short mystery stories, and a good reminder of Davidson's range beyond sf/fantasy. There's the whimsy of "The Lord of Central Park" and the probably well-researched history of "The Necessity of His Condition" and "The Importance of Trifles." "A Quiet Room with a View" would have made a great episode in Alfred Hitchcock Presents and "Thou Still Unravished Bride" was an episode in that show. On the whole, a surprisingly diverse collection of stories in subject and approach from one writer.
