Terrible title, but a thought-provoking book that uses data in an unexpected way--to study art history.

Winslow Homer is a master of watercolor painting producing more than 600 watercolors in his lifetime; this volume, based on an exhibition of his works in 1986, is breathtaking collection with expert descriptions and commentary. Arranged chronically, from 1871 to 1905, the book captures the development of his artistry and technique. Life on and near the sea or lakes is the most common theme drawn from Homer's trips and vacations to England, the Caribbean and Florida. A few favorites include Weary (1878), The Life Line (1884), An October Day(1889), Three Men in a Canoe (1895) and Key West (1903).
