Review # 1 was written on 2016-02-18 00:00:00 James Kay Another one of those foundational poststructuralist texts that I never read while I was younger. Yes, it's definitely a time capsule of a certain point in television history that has been rendered more or less obsolete, but all the observations are still pertinent and can be applied to the present televisual and media landscape. Not that much has changed. The later chapters on feminine and masculine TV, the electronic carnival, wrestling, game shows, and television news are probably my favorites. |
