Even if you aren't running a business, per se, I believe there are ways in which you can adapt this book to your unique situation. I think that this author provides a number of good ways to help you get out of a pinch so that then you might end up making the best of your terrible circumstances. I only use those words because you wouldn't be reading this book if you weren't in a dreadful way right now. It's very much an "If life gives you lemons, first make lemonade, set up a lemonade stand, then adjust your price according to the flow of your consumer base, the time of year, and how hot it is!" :DDD She says when worse comes to worse, though, you need to confer with a lawyer. The kind of lawyer depends on your specific issue, and this book may help you determine what kind of problem you are having. Like, she talks about the several different kinds of bankruptcies you can file, which I found absolutely fascinating. Originally I only thought you just had no money, end of story. NO - not according to Suzanne Caplan! Curious for more? Well, you might want to see what I've been reading the past weekish. In any event, this manual reminded me of when I was a youth studying entrepreneurship in PROBE, the gifted program. So that childlike hope for the best even when I didn't know where on Earth I was made my feeling for this book so warm. (I LEARNED SOME OF THAT STUFF MAYBE WALKING DISTANCE FROM THE HOSPITAL IN WHICH I WAS BORN w00t w00t!) While reading this book, I remembered most clearly watching scores of movies about Enron. Thinking now, I might have done a bit more with graphing paper, but that stuff is real blurry. I was twelve. I don't remember anything clear from those movies. I just remember people being really excited about all the financial crises in New York more than any specific details. So much drama. It's not like anyone died. So that was my impression about Second Wind. (It's not about lemonade by the way - that was just an example I imagined while I was in reviewer mode.)

Written by a go-getter media coach and marketing guru, this was recommended to me by marketing folks when I was writing a book myself. I have highlighted places and will keep this book even though she covers lots of areas which are hardly relevant for me (tv interviews). However this book is well structured with great conceptual coaching on making a plan, understanding your own goals/style etc. as well as some really practical tips on publicity packages, how to court the editor etc..
