I didn't know what time of year Orion dives below the New England horizon, and when he reappears. I also didn't know that the nebulas and star clusters are so easy to find with a telescope or strong binoculars once you know where they are located in the sky. The timing of both the Perseid and Leonid meteor showers is noted. Certainly, I would re-affirm the timing with a local astronomy club, but its always good to know when the exciting things will be happening in the great above.

Take the word Beginners seriously. This slim volume it's easy star charts and accessible text along with a starry night is all you need to have fun looking at the sky and begin to learn what you're looking at.
