Some interesting info about breastfeeding and breasts as fashion/commodity in other cultures, but jeez the second wave was problematic and white-cis-centered. Throw in actually defending Freud in 1998, plenty of slut-shaming, willful ignorance of intersectionality, and considering "but I just feel like probablies" when talking about evolution, and you've got a hot mess.

A candid and anecdotal account, mixed with psychological, sociological and biological history and theory, Carolyn Latteier's exploration of the Western World's sexualisation of breasts is a brilliant read. This text comprehensively discusses the plethora of opinion surrounding our individual, social and cultural beliefs that influence and shape the objectification of breasts in the contemporary era. It is filled with fascinating accounts of ancient civilisations that had similar and differing attitudes, even a study of the theories surrounding the unique development of humans producing permanently formed breasts, compared to the rest of the animal kingdom, whose breasts typically swell for nursing alone. Aside from the subject matter, this book is written well and does not profess to know the answers. Instead it acts as a fair coverage of the many different arguments involved in such an un-researched topic. I personally appreciate the way that Carolyn Latteier did not take the easy solution of blaming patriarchal suppression and instead indicated a need for equal gender consideration to prevail - something that doesn't come easily in a world where blaming an often non-existent patriarchal villain is trendy and used as a crutch. Definitely a good read and an essential part of any catalogue of knowledge that wants to explore true feminist perspectives.
