The Holy Spirit and Prayer In holy awe I bow before you, the triune God. Again I have seen how the mystery of prayer is the mystery of the holy Trinity. ( the Godhead ) I adore the Father who ever hears, the Son who ever lives to pray, and the Holy Spirit, proceeding from the Father and the Son, to lift us up in that ever-blessed, never-ceasing place of prayer. I bow , my God, in adoring worship before this infinite condescension that through the Holy Spirit takes us into the divine Life and fellowship of love. Blessed Lord Jesus, teach me to understand that it is the indwelling Spirit flowing from you and uniting to you who is the Spirit of prayer. Teach me what it is as an empty, wholly consecrated vessel, to yield myself to Him as my life. Teach me to honor and to trust Him as a living person to lead my life and my prayers. Teach me to wait in holy silence in prayer and give Him place to breathe within me His unutterable intercession. Teach me that through Him it is possible to pray without ceasing - to pray without failing - because He makes me a partaker of the never-ceasing and never-failing intercession in which you, the Son, appear before the Father. Lord, fulfill in me your promise " In that day you will ask in my name, I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. " Amen. Andrew Murray

Wonder why people have so much confusion with regard to the Bible? Here is a part of that problem. People not accurately quoting the Bible. While this book does have some helpful information in it, it also has inaccurate, misleading information. I have written in many the pages of this book the correct information from the Bible, not my assumptions or guesses, but scripture. To me, if one claims to be a teacher of the Bible, he should be more accurate on his statements to reflect the truth of scripture. A few examples: On page 305, Murray states: "Your will be done in heaven as on earth." This is not what scripture states. Scripture clearly states: ESV: "Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." And in KJV: "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven" Why would His will be done in heaven as on earth? On page 301, author states: "It is because of a lack of prayer that the working of the Spirit is so weak." God, the Spirit, is never weak, ever. 1Corinthians 12:9 "My grace is sufficient for your, for my power is made perfect in weakness." ESV. That weakness is ours, not God's. Page 295, author has: "God's intense longing to bless seems to be graciously limited by His dependence on the intercession that rises from the earth." God having dependence?? God limited ??? How did he arrive at that, where did he get that from? All things are possible with God - Matthew 19:26. Page 249, author states: "All that He asks is that we prayerfully stay in close fellowship with Him every day." All? This is not all we are to do, where in scripture does it state this is "all" I want Christians to do? There are more things in this book that are disappointing because it is misleading in many places as other reviewers have noted; I will not repeat those here but you can find them in the reviews section. For those just beginning their journey with our Lord to read this book, they would be misguided/misinformed. I'm glad I read it completely before deciding if it could be given as gifts. To me, this is unacceptable teaching. And there are so many authors doing that these days - misinforming. I wish anyone who wishes to teach scripture to do just that, teach the truth, and that they would keep in mind the warning in Revelations, 22:18-19 ESV "I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book."
