Review # 1 was written on 2013-12-20 00:00:00 Philip Squires If I could only recommend one book to new educators (classroom based on homeschooling), this would be it. Outstanding on every level. |
Review # 2 was written on 2019-03-28 00:00:00 Jonathan Brawner In the late nineties, I read Vella's first edition of this book. This second edition is greatly expanded and draws on the insights of quantum theory to undergird her discussion of learning design. In the book she offers 12 principles of learning design and seven steps for learning design which are applicable in a wide variety of learning situations. She then provides 12 case studies from her vast experiences of teaching in formal, informal and nonformal settings all over the world. The book not only provides a solid foundation for anyone designing learning events with a focus on dialogical education. Her insights will transform teaching and the leading of workshops into something far more meaningful and dynamic. |
