Review # 1 was written on 2015-07-26 00:00:00 Kimberly Bemis Like any anthology, there's some great, some good, and some bad. It's a really diverse collection and usually pretty interesting. I especially like the stories by Janet Frame, Graeme Lay, Philip Mincher, Bruce Stewart, Jan Kemp, and Gregory O'Brien. There are also good stories by such famous New Zealanders as Keri Hulme, Maurice Gee, and Witi Ihimaera. Being an anthology of stories published in the 80s, it's not so contemporary anymore, but overall it feels like the stories could have been written much more recently, or even before the 80s. They're pretty timeless, like most good stories. |
