Review # 1 was written on 2008-12-04 00:00:00 Julio Cisneros One book will not tell you everything you need to know about translation, but this book does cover all the basics. It also warns about the most common pitfalls and tries to help you avoid them. A variety of kinds of texts are examined, such as legal documents and novels, with the different kinds of approaches each one requires. While the book contains many exercises, the corrections are in a teacher's book, so they won't be as helpful as they could be. The book was designed to be used in a classroom, so it also includes activities for class discussion, which won't help you if you're reading this book on your own. Still, it will give you a good grounding on how to translate, not as good as an actual college course, but still helpful. |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-03-02 00:00:00 James Corman This is [was?] a good textbook series. I prefer it to Glencoe's Buen Viaje, which is what I teach from now. |
