Review # 1 was written on 2012-01-29 00:00:00 Jeffrey Caplis This is for 5th through 7th. Tells of Lewis and Clark's journey, but this time talks about how they were really naturalists/scientists before their time and how they never got credit for many of their discoveries. Talks about many of the plants they saw and samples they sent back. How the Native American introduced them to many edible plants. Very interesting how they were able to save and write about many of their finds. |
Review # 2 was written on 2016-10-07 00:00:00 Chad Kehl This book was executed better than the Animals on the Trail book. The discussion on Lewis' field specimens was a particularly interesting thread through out the book. As with the Animals on the Trail book, I have some issues with some of the wording, for example, specimens being "new to science" where perhaps it should be more appropriate to say new to Western science. |
