Review # 1 was written on 2012-12-01 00:00:00 Robert Davis Starting back in the 50's, Rock and Roll has been a prominent genre in the music scene. This book tells it's history, stories, sub genres, major players and much more. I really liked it, as it pertains to my favorite genre of music. As well, I learned much from it. My only complaint is that it dwelt mostly on the early Beatles/Stones era much more than Van Halen to current(e.i. Foo Fighters) era Which I relate to much more. I could relate, however, to the subject of rock and roll itself pretty well. I was raised on AC/DC, and haven't looked back. Also, being in a rock-ish band myself, all I could do was take mental notes from the book. This a definite recommend for fans of older rock and rock musicians everywhere. This could really help any aspiring musicians as a way to know how the music business works. Also, literary terms are used, but not heavily, in this book. Foreshadowing is used in the end to elude to the fact that rock was starting to give way to more pop and rap based music. Also irony is used, because in the beginning of rock, it was very risque and offensive to some, yet the genre that was beating it in the nineties, rap, made rock look tame. In conclusion, this book was a good read, but not the best. I wish it would have focused more on the later (seventies-current) rock. It is a must-read for older rock fans, and aspiring musicians.

Review # 2 was written on 2013-08-29 00:00:00 Luis Ruelas Reads like it was written by a high schooler, but briefly touches on almost all the major acts up to the mid 90s.
