Review # 1 was written on 2015-08-19 00:00:00 Shannon Bernard This book felt like a conversation with the author. I enjoyed the way she matter-of-factly shared experiences that are simply not part of modern, everyday North American culture. I would have liked a little more information so that is why I didn't quite give it five stars... and yet, maybe the book itself was meant to feel a bit like a dream. I am still pondering the idea at the end related to the amount of time Ms. Valencia served the Yaqui. I don't want to say more about that because it could be a spoiler, but this story certainly lends itself to really considering how people come and go in our lives. |
Review # 2 was written on 2007-12-27 00:00:00 Karl Herreshoff enjoyed the beginning of this book. in fact I identified very strongly with her dreams and her communing with nature.. but the second part of the book left me a bit.. i don't know.. blank.. or wanting more.. something.. i do like her style though.. simple yet beautiful descriptions of nature, love, ideas and culture |
