Review # 1 was written on 2008-03-15 00:00:00 Paulo Connor I won this advanced Reader Copy (ARC) through the LibraryThing Early Reviewer Program. This is the definitive reference book on the U.S. Chess Championships. It is indexed by player name, chess openings, and ECO openings. It covers the stories behind the games, and I found them to be very interesting; one interesting fact is that in the 16th Championship, Bobby Fischer not only won that year, (1963), but he set a record by beating all 11 opponents with no losses or ties; no one else has done it before or since. Every serious chess player should have this book on their bookshelf; I do. |
Review # 2 was written on 2008-09-19 00:00:00 Jeff Harris It's OK, but it drags a bit and some of the game analysis is meh. |
