This book covers many Jewish tales that families would sit and read on the Sabbath day. It starts off with an introduction into the Jewish religion and customs that are practiced every Sabbath day from the prayers to the foods they eat. I enjoyed reading this book because each tale taught a lesson about morals and life itself. It is a good read for children because it teaches about basic ways to behave towards one another such as respect and love for one another. This would be a good addition to a classroom where one can teach about religions and specific customs about different religions.

This book was an excellent supplement to Tapestry of Grace Year 1, week 7. This collection of Jewish folktales and legends did much to enhance my children's understanding of Shabbat from a Jewish perspective. Sadly, it came due at the library before we were able to finish since it was not a scheduled part of our curriculum. I do plan to revisit this read aloud again with the kids.
