Review # 1 was written on 2016-11-16 00:00:00 Justin Trudel Very dated and quite dry reading. The authors deserve credit for trying to remain objective but their value systems (by 2016 standards) are very dated and shine obviously through, shown by for instance how the authors are positive towards treatments that are designed to "cure homosexuality". This book is more interesting for students of the history or philosophy of science than anyone else. It does give good insight as to how scientists funded by different interest usually come to conflicting results, results that are in line with the interests of their funders... |
Review # 2 was written on 2011-03-05 00:00:00 Barry Kemelhor Interesting history of research about the effects of media violence and "pornography," especially: -what is arousing to a rapist? -relaxation methods and environment in psychological desensitization compared to tv viewing environment, -training sexual interests with reward (orgasm) -descriptions of "masculine" and "feminine" pelvis shape compared to behavior and relationship success. But it is dated, and dry.... |
